Triangle Top

The last few days in the sewing room have been for cutting, so I thought that I would share one of my antique quilt tops. This one just has some yummy fabrics, so there are lots of pics.
Aerial view (from a stepstool)

Three yards of this, please.

The End...Hope you liked it!

All the triangles make for a good study in antique fabrics.

I just love looking at antique quilts, so I appreciate the opportunity to study yours!

Do you try to imagine the circumstances under which the quilter worked? Was she using cast off clothing? Did she have daughters helping her? Were her days filled with the labors of washing, scrubbing, gardening, cooking, and so on? Did the heavy day work leave her to do her quilting in the quieter time of evenings? I really do wonder how our ancestors did all that they had to do. Thanks for sharing your quilt!!

Loved seeing this one. The fabrics in it are great to look at and some of those colours are so hard to find in reproductions.

Thank you for sharing this. Like Jayne, the old quilts talk to me...I like to wonder what the quiltmaker's life was like and the events surrounding the time the quilt was made. I hope that future generations will do that with the quilts we are making today.

Word verification: misti .....kind of makes you all misti eyed doesn't it? :)

Interesting, veddy, veddy interesting (I'm stroking my chin so I look like a corny TV detective). I spy some fabrics in your antique that I've bought as repros. Better hide that thing before we all get there with our seam rippers. Kidding! It's wonderful and we'd never be tempted to sneak a few pieces away. Never, no, not at all.
