Colorado vacation was the start to my New Year. We take one 'off day' in the middle of the ski schedule. We headed to Denver for a stop at Harriet's Treadle Arts. There's usually a stop at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, but I'd already seen the current exhibit three times. So, we stopped at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall. It's just off the expressway - I've always wanted to check it out. I found this unusual Fenton 'Minerva' pattern sugar bowl.
And if you're feeling a little blue - same piece, different side.
Awhile ago I posted about the small pitcher I use to fill my iron. Well, the Majolica pitcher now has a buddy. This whimsical beauty is from Staffordshire, England - no maker inscription. I tried to take pictures of each figure, but the transferware just won't render a sharp image - two frogs (one drinking tea), a jester, and a mob-capped woman holding a child.
Another first on the free day was a stop in Georgetown (historic Victorian mining town). I love old architecture, so I'm including pictures of the Georgetown Public School and First Presbyterian Church, both completed in 1874 (and opposite each other on the same street).

Glad you enjoyed your trip to our beautiful state. We go to the Brass Armadillo quite a lot, probaly too frequently, and I love to just wander. Have a great Saturday.

Love your interpretation of Lori's quilt along. I try to shop at the Brass Armadillo in Denver a couple a times a year, I can always find a treasure or two. Like what you found!

Enjoy seeing the pictures of your travels - it's fun to see where other people go. I, too, enjoy the old houses and buildings they provide such opportunity to think about the history that took place in those places. If only walls could talk.

I love Colorado! I was unfamiliar with Georgetown - thanks for sharing those great photos. I agree - Harriet's Treadle Arts is a great store and a must-stop for me when I visit my Grandma in Denver. She learned to machine quilt from Harriet many years ago, and the n she taught me. I like your choice of fabrics for your "buttermilk" quilt.

Quite some time ago, I spent a week in Colorado Springs with my husband who was there for his job. I was pining to see the quilt museum, but only got as far as the Coors plant and tour.
No. The reason I didn't get to the museum wasn't my visit to Coors!
I'd planned to drive to the museum the following day, but instead occupied myself with food poisoning. Yippee.
Still, I loved the Colorado Springs area. I'd like to go back to try for the quilt museum again! :-)

I thought the blocks were shoo-fly. Buttermilk pie can be called shoo-fly pie though so the name fits. I liked how the 1/2 and 1/4 blocks were assembled. This was a fun QAL. Cute pitchers you found.
