Colorado vacation was the start to my New Year. We take one 'off day' in the middle of the ski schedule. We headed to Denver for a stop at Harriet's Treadle Arts. There's usually a stop at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, but I'd already seen the current exhibit three times. So, we stopped at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall. It's just off the expressway - I've always wanted to check it out. I found this unusual Fenton 'Minerva' pattern sugar bowl.
And if you're feeling a little blue - same piece, different side.
Awhile ago I posted about the small pitcher I use to fill my iron. Well, the Majolica pitcher now has a buddy. This whimsical beauty is from Staffordshire, England - no maker inscription. I tried to take pictures of each figure, but the transferware just won't render a sharp image - two frogs (one drinking tea), a jester, and a mob-capped woman holding a child.
Another first on the free day was a stop in Georgetown (historic Victorian mining town). I love old architecture, so I'm including pictures of the Georgetown Public School and First Presbyterian Church, both completed in 1874 (and opposite each other on the same street).
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Glad you enjoyed your trip to our beautiful state. We go to the Brass Armadillo quite a lot, probaly too frequently, and I love to just wander. Have a great Saturday.
Vicki....your Buttermilk is beautiful! I'm about to start my own, can't wait! I love your new china finds....they're lovely. And I like old architecture, too.....those spires on the church are fabulous!

Your little buttermilk quilt came out great!
Love Buttermilk!
Great old buildings, too. : )
Love your interpretation of Lori's quilt along. I try to shop at the Brass Armadillo in Denver a couple a times a year, I can always find a treasure or two. Like what you found!
Happy New Year!
I love your new sugar bowl and your staging with the bear is darling.
I really like the soft color of your background for Lori's Quilt Along -
Those building photos are great, I love the gothic windows especially.
Vicki -
Enjoy seeing the pictures of your travels - it's fun to see where other people go. I, too, enjoy the old houses and buildings they provide such opportunity to think about the history that took place in those places. If only walls could talk.
After seeing your little pitcher....I think I am going to have to "upgrade"! What a great idea! Your teddy bear is cute and I enjoy the quilt in the background....
Buttermilk turned out great. I still need to finish mine. I have been gone for a week.
Beautiful buttermilk!
I am so glad you enjoyed Colorado, skiing and antique shopping. I live here on the front range and am always longing to head East for antiques.Lovely pictures.
Harriet's is a fun quilt store.
I love Colorado! I was unfamiliar with Georgetown - thanks for sharing those great photos. I agree - Harriet's Treadle Arts is a great store and a must-stop for me when I visit my Grandma in Denver. She learned to machine quilt from Harriet many years ago, and the n she taught me. I like your choice of fabrics for your "buttermilk" quilt.
Great Pink Lemonade/Buttermilk!
Thanks for sharing pics of the pitchers. I love transferware. Looks like ti was a good trip - glad you got some important shopping in!
Am lovin' the name Buttermilk for the quilt. What a hoot!
Quite some time ago, I spent a week in Colorado Springs with my husband who was there for his job. I was pining to see the quilt museum, but only got as far as the Coors plant and tour.
No. The reason I didn't get to the museum wasn't my visit to Coors!
I'd planned to drive to the museum the following day, but instead occupied myself with food poisoning. Yippee.
Still, I loved the Colorado Springs area. I'd like to go back to try for the quilt museum again! :-)
Buttermilk fabrics look really wonderful and awesome. All fabric art and creations stitch is really fabulous.
petrol scooter
I love the little buttermilk quilt. Perfect!! Your vacation sounds awesome.
I thought the blocks were shoo-fly. Buttermilk pie can be called shoo-fly pie though so the name fits. I liked how the 1/2 and 1/4 blocks were assembled. This was a fun QAL. Cute pitchers you found.
Love your version of the lemonade quilt. So many different looks from this simple pattern and all are wonderful.
Sweet quilt, and I love the name you gave it...isn't it fun to find "old" fabric in your stash that works so well with a new project?
Love your version of this quilt! It was such a fun QAL!
