A Couple of Doll Quilts

Both of these doll quilts are from Temecula kits. The above quilt is from a Lori Smith pattern.
The one below is a Temecula pattern. This is just a fun, simple design, but I am really drawn to those. This would a good series quilt - doll, crib and bed sized. It probably won't happen, it is just fun to dream about. Sometimes that is enough, though, and it's on to the next project!
I'm really not much of a kit quilter, but these monthly ones from Temecula are really just the ticket for a small quilt sewing spell. The instructions are clear, and the fabric generous. I tend to keep little pieces, and have a stockpile starting from the leftovers. The idea isn't to make one exactly like the sample, and I like that. The result is similar but not a copy, although you could certainly do that if you wanted.
I like to baste the little quilts upon completion of the top. It is fun to choose the backing, and the basting goes lickety-split. Then they are ready to go when I want to do some hand quilting.

I like these little quilts. You are smart to get them ready to quilt as you go. I tend to stall there. The little quilts I have made are all still at flimsy stage.

So much easier to have a project already basted and ready to go when you are ready to sit down and stitch! Love how these came out...

Love my little packages from Temecula Quilt Co also. What a good idea to baste right away-----no excuses when you need something to hand quilt. Especially like your scappy Lori Smith quilt.

You're right, sometimes just dreaming about certain projects is enough. There certainly isn't time to make everything we think about. Your little quilts are perfect for trying new designs, colors, and techniques. Love them both.

I love these quilts~ i will have to look at that Temecula program. I love that they are little and so do-able! I love Lori Smith's quilts, too. Found your blog from Lori's at Humblequilts, by the way.

They are great and don't look like kits at all.

I especially like the first little quilt. Temecula always puts together such good kits. Their fabric choices never disappoint.

Greetings from Tunisia! I've been enjoying your well-named blog while trying to beat the heat. The quilts and blocks you show are lovely. I think the "ugly" quilt turned out beautifully...and I recognize some of those fabrics. It's interesting to see the trends in fabrics over a period of time.
best, nadia

I'm especially loving that anvil quilt. Traditional block and reproduction fabrics - just doesn't get any better!
