Vicki is having a fun in the sun weekend, so I am sharing my finished doll quilt top. The colors seem Pennsylvania inspired, but Halloweenish, too. The four patch is just such a versatile block. I often wonder of a quilter could spend her entire "career" with just one pattern. Maybe for a while, but she would get antsy for something different, I am sure.
Here is the reverse side. I like to press my seams open when working in a small scale. It makes the piecing a little bit more time consuming, but when it comes time for hand quilting, I always thank myself for having done so.
The 13.5 in square top basted and ready for quilting. The batting was a sample piece that was available for $1 at the last big quilt show in Chicago. I bought both the bleached and unbleached as they were the perfect size for doll quilts.

What a fun doll quilt! I love the colors and of course, I agree about the 4 patches.
I love the colors. Is it orange or is it cheddar!?
Beautiful. I love your small doll quilts. I think I can spend a VERY long time on one pattern. Often I will make a a four patch and then do some applique around the borders. I enjoy dabbling in both worlds.
Cute doll quilts. Thank you for the tip about pressing seams open.
I love your doll quilt!
What a vibrant quilt! I'm with you on the four patch!
What a fun project, and the Pennsylvania Halloween title made me smile. :) I have to tell you, I think I love your header more than any other I've seen. Everytime I see it my eyes get a little bigger.
I love the basic patterns--never tire of them, but if I had to make one and only one I probably would. : )
Thanks for the tip about the open seams. I am just starting to dabble in little quilts and I can see how this would be a good thing!
love, love, love your little quilt, what a great title
that green fabric is just so cute. love it.
I haven't pressed my seams open, yet, maybe I need to give that a try.
great use of that sample batting!
Kathie
oh and by the way I could make nine patches for ever!
Perfect name!
Adorable little quilt. The colors are very Pennsylvania Dutch. When I want to sew, but not sure what, I start whipping out 4-patches or 9-patches. I know I'll use them eventually and they're so fun to make.
Great little quilt! A batting manufacturer sent my guild samples a couple years ago there were about that size. I love using them for doll quilts.
Fabulous quilt, great color and scale. Very fun combo of blocks and color.
I like those little batting pieces too. You can try small projects before committing on a large piece.
Love this sweet little quilt. Love a great dollar bargain too! I'm taking your advice about pressing seams open to heart. Good advice on those little projects.
Love the fall colors on this, by the way.
The doll quilt is amazing. Those colors are awesome and work so well together.
Great quilt! It would be great as a big one. Love the color scheme.
