Sweet Home Quilt Co. (Hi, Melisa!) - I don't think you'll find a more inviting quilt shop. Wouldn't you love to 'sit and stitch' on this porch? The shop displays are charming - great tumbler quilt!
Little Quilts specializes in reproductions and is 'filled to the brim' with samples.
My trip to New Jersey last week was quite exciting - two major Mother Nature events! The earthquake was a unique workshop distraction (including swinging window blinds). I delayed my flight out until Saturday to take in the Maine quilt exhibit at the Lowell Quilt Museum. Couldn't get much closer to Irene impact - I was on the last United flight leaving Hartford, CT last night - the Indiana sunshine is looking mighty fine today! No quilt pictures allowed at the exhibit, but lots of scribbled notes taken. I think there might be a crib and doll quilt added to my list. Wouldn't this be the perfect quilt shop - only a block from the museum!
So, with all the travel this month, not much sewing going on. But, Labor Day weekend plans have changed and I'm planning on a sewing retreat! Looking back at last year's post, this is a welcomed repeat. Anybody interested in joining me? If you've read to the end of this travelogue and you want to sew-along, send me an email and I'll post progress over the weekend. If not, I'll sew alone - off to do some planning!

Have a great day tomorrow sewing.
Love the photos....glad you are safe...
A labor day sewing retreat sounds wonderful. I will try to participate but my recent holiday weekends have had other plans for me. We do have a family wedding on Saturday with a long drive so I'll shoot for applique as my retreat project. I am headed back to Atlanta this fall and cannot wait to visit Little Quilts again. I haven't been to the other shop so thanks for the tip.
The pics from the quilts shops are wonderful! Wish I lived close to them, but then again it is probably a good thing I don't! lol Wish I could join you with your sewing retreat, but plans won't allow for that. Have fun!
What great shops. Yes, love a front porch. Have one at this house and use it nightly. Love it in the rain too.
I've walked that area in Lowell, and I agree - fabulous place for a quilt shop.
Will think of you Labor Day - we have non-quilting compnay. Have fun!!
Shop photos are so inviting. Glad you enjoyed your quilting-related field trips.
Those look like my kind of quilt shops. My husband just informed me this morning that he would like to go to the mountains on Labor Day. We never go anywhere on holidays. Oh well, sew without me.
Lowell Quilt Museum is on short list.
Let me know next time you are in NJ and maybe I can meet you for lunch or a coffee -
Glad you had a fun trip, the Atlanta shops looks great.
Also, glad you got our early before Irene came through.
Oh my goodness I had to comment because I adore your quilt blog name!!! How cute! LOL* Pictures are great, inspiring, thank you both for sharing. ;)
What a nice trip and a couple of great shops, wish we had some close by like that. I'll look forward to seeing what the sewing time produces.
Hi Vicki! Thanks for the shout out about Sweet Home Quilt Co. It was so great to meet you...I'll look forward to seeing you again the next time your work brings you to the area. Enjoy your retreat!

Oh my goodness but this is a treat. I really love all these quilts but I was really taken by the soft colors in the snowball-ninepatch on the porch. Soft grey I should say, yes? And that building…oh what a great shop it would make. There's so much good quilting here. Makes a girl happy to be a quilter. Thanks for sharing!!!
Always love shop photos.
Did you know that the 6th photo is all quilts by Karen Mowery of Sew Primitive? Aren't they great! Love her primitive children! Love Sweet Home also, I went there with Karen when I visited her in Atlanta.
Useful information like this one must be kept and maintained so I will put this one on my bookmark list! Thanks for this wonderful post and hoping to post more of this!
