Since Last We Met....

I started a new quilt and am planning another!  Temecula used the 9 Patch gray 5's fabric (Judie Rothermel Sturbridge Village IV) as a background in one of their quilts and I loved it.  I was re-acquainted with a quilt from Kim Diehl's Simple Comforts book and pulled the gray from stash to use as background.  I have lots of 4 Patch blocks to make, but I think this one will come together quickly.  The 9 Patch blocks are complete.




The quilt I'm planning is from my bucket list.  It's the cover quilt from Quilts:  An American Heritage by Terri Zegart.  This book can be found 'used' online at ridiculously low prices - the book price is cheaper than the shipping.  The book is only 128 pages, but the picture quality is wonderful.  I found this book almost three years ago and instantly added the cover quilt to my list.  This picture has been rotating thru my screensaver.  This is the second time my screensaver has pushed me to start something new.  It's great incentive - my favorites keep flashing by.

I'm recharging my winter battery in FL this week.  My first stop was a quilt show in Punta Gorda.  I'll post show pictures next time.

    Oh Vicki! I have this book! And it's wonderful....I have post-its on almost every page....and I just went through it, so I could tell you my favorites...but they are all so good....and also on my list to make....but I have to tell you, the ONE that really makes my heart ache for it is the one across the page from the cover quilt, on page 101. It's the little primitive baskets in red on white background....and I just NEED to make that quilt! It's probably the simplest of all of the the quilts in this book...but something about it is so delicate and charming....it takes my breath away!

    Thanks for making me dig out this book again, and get some more inspiration! I needed that! I forget that I have so many wonderful, inspiring books right at my fingertips!

    That quilt on the cover is quite an undertaking. It is beautiful. I've been to Punta Gorda. Love the quilt shops there. Hugs.

    Hmm, haven't heard about the 4 and 9 patch quilt! Would you believe that I've had that book out again, and planning the cover one myself?

    I love shopping for discount quilt books online. I got that giant quilt treasury book from the engagement calendars for a $1. Shipping was $3.99. I even got a bunch of old engagement calendars too. Thanks for sharing this book.

    oh using grey in a quilt intrigues me right now.
    I am looking for the perfect grey for a background...
    aren't Kim's books great?

    I'd just like to know where you keep that "list" of the To-Do's? How long is the list? I started putting my patterns in a sort-of-file that says "do these next" but it doesn't work very well. Before I can get to them- more NEW projects catch my eye! Oh the trials & tribulations of quilters!

    The quilt in the header was the backdrop at an informational/educational booth at the Chicago Quilt Show last year. I have no info on it, but it's a beauty!
